La Cumbrecita

A breathtaking landscape with forests, native and exotic plants, mountain springs and rivers that form various waterfalls and natural swimmingpools. Situated 4800 feet above sealevel, it is declared pedestrian only village in 1996. Its climate is moderate, cold and dry winters with short but intense snowfalls, summer with hot days and refreshing nights. Settled by central Europeans, focused on eco-tourism, no paved roads and cars are not allowed, transport on foot, quite possibly reminiscent of towns in the 15th century, a paradisiacal experience. A 30km pebbled road, up trough starling views of the Sierra Grandes will take you to La Cumbrecita, Teahouses specialize in Apfelstrudel and Chocolate cake. Alpine-style hotels, lodgings and cabins available, with permission you may camp anywhere.
